In the lives of many, birthdays are usually periods for sober reflection and stocktaking. Numerous personalities with eyes on the verdict of history use such occasions to reflect on their contributions to the betterment or otherwise of their societies. For Senator Lawan Adamu, he would have silently allowed the occasion of his birthday anniversary go unnoticed in strict compliance with his natural humility and humbleness. But he is not an ordinary man; indeed, as the proverb goes, “A golden fish has no hiding place.” Such is the best description of Distinguished Senator Lawan Adamu Usman, Chairman, Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education.
Little wonder people across all walks of life and from different parts of the country celebrate his birthday. Though reserved, humble, and gentle, the positive impact Senator Lawan Adamu Usman has made in the lives of people makes it necessary for him to be spotted, noticed, appreciated, and celebrated. His love for humanity, generosity, kindness, sincerity, and his effort in providing guidance and advice to the youths, is second to none.
Lawal Adamu Usman is a confident, articulate and multi-faceted politician who is well respected by the electorate in his native ward, state and beyond. He has continued to maintain his political structure through frequent visitation and philanthropic gestures.
In Kaduna State, Lawal Adamu Usman is a new breed politician who is synonymous with compassion. He is a man who is cheerful while giving. Through the LA Cares Foundation, Lawal Adamu Usman has uplifted the lives of many youths, orphans and vulnerable people in different capacities.
He has a big dossier of constituency outreach that reflects his close touch with his constituents. He has utilized the opportunity given to him through projects he attracted to his senatorial district and his name is registered in the heart of his people. He is truly a representative of the people, going by the amount of work he has been able to do for the overall benefit of his constituents. So far, he has proved to be among the Federal lawmakers who have made the people the centre of their representation. No matter what anyone may say, the number of dividends of democracy that this representative has been able to bring to the doorsteps of the people he is representing is unmatched.
Senator Usman’s constituency development credentials and landmarks speak volumes; the highlights of which were stellar achievements of constructing and rehabilitating schools and re-positioning the educational sector in the more definitive, radically progressive and futuristic manner, not to mention the expansive provision of basic welfare amenities for the citizens in water resources, healthcare, power and the greatly improved living standards for his people in terms of capacity building, empowerment and educational scholarship for his people; all shone brightly for both his admirers and detractors to access.
Senator Lawan Adamu’s impressive constituency achievements include :100 smart primary school, scholarships, boreholes, solar lights and entrepreneur training for farmers. Others include sponsorship of hundreds of students for WAEC and JAMB examinations, N500,000 each for business startup capital to 500 beneficiary, 1000 beneficiary for registration fees as scholarships for tertiary students, 100 women trained in soap making with startup capital and 200 people trained for fish farming with capital. His motion urging the Federal Ministry of Works to fasttrack the ongoing reconstruction of Abuja – Kaduna-Kano expressway received unanimous approval by the Senate.
Mr LA’s foray into the volatile political terrain from the serene confines of his private practice, has set a new research trend on the professionals / businessmen in politics as his actions and utterances have redefined politics from the pejorative sense of the word. He has completely rubbished the beautiful and well researched theory of the English philosopher and social analyst, New Clive, who claimed that “What politicians lack is not shortage of towering promises; what they appear to have in abundance is a congenital capacity to default on their promises”.
Senator Lawan Adamu Usman, fondly referred to by his admirers and teeming supporters as Mr LA, is a great achiever, a successful person in both political, public, private, and family life. Though he is a gentle, humble, quiet, and reserve person, such a great visionary leader should be celebrated by all and sundry due to his valuable contributions to his Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Kaduna State, Nigeria, constituency and humanity at large.
I therefore wish to celebrate and rejoice with such a great leader as he marks his birthday. I pray that Almighty Allah bless him with long live, sound health, and wisdom. May Almighty Allah bless him and his family. May Allah continue to guide him, Ameen.
