A former Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development in Ogun State, Mr Kehinde Sogunle is top among a list of 23 prominent Nigerians to be conferred with honorary Doctorate awards at an international conference holding in Abeokuta on Saturday August 17, 2024.
The forthcoming Leadership Empowerment International Conference tagged LEIC NIGERIA 2024 is the platform for the award ceremony which is pooling together an array of international leaders from over 50 countries of the world.
The award is being conferred by a South-Africa-based Immanuel Theology Institute International, founder by Prof Van Den Berg Edward Alfred in conjunction with Priesthood Leadership Development Initiative Inc(PLDI) based in Nigeria and founded by Prof. Olusesi Obateye.
Venue of the conference is the Treasure House of God Global Centre located at Agbeloba, Abeokuta.
Sogunle, a Chartered Accountant and Management and Economic Development Professional, is to be conferred with honorary doctorate in Leadership(D.L)
With significant high brow experience in accounting practice and management consultancy for decades both in the private and public sector, he has been involved in professional assignments in all sectors of the Nigerian Economy and held managerial positions as Senior Internal Auditor, Chief Accountant in a commercial conglomerate and Financial Controller in a Mortgage Bank.
Sogunle has also been actively involved in consulting projects involving organization and strategy development, human capacity development, process and project management, change management and financial management for clients in banking, oil and gas, technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, service as well as government establishments at the level of Lead Consultant, Managing Consultant and Associate Director.
He was educated at the University of Ife (Accounting) and attended an intensive Executive Management Development Programme at the University of Wittswaterand, South Africa and the Public Financial Management Programme at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Boston, Massachusetts
Sometimes during the regime of Otunba Gbenga Daniel as Governor of Ogun State, he served as Director-General, Bureau of Management and Budget. Later, he got appointed Commissioner of Finance in the State where he participated actively in championing Public Financial Management and Economic Development reforms as member of the Economic Advisory Council, the State Executive Council, Financial Management Committee among others.
During his tenure, Sogunle introduced various reforms in the Budgetary and Financial Management Processes and several enabling legislation and initiatives for Public Financial Management such as the Fiscal Responsibility and Public Procurement Laws, as well as the Financial Investigations and Controls Unit.
He, it was, who created the Debt Management Unit, stimulated the designation of the Directorate of Finance and Accounts to be responsible for Finance and Accounts matters in the Stat. He supervised the Internal Revenue Service and the Regional Planning Office to coordinate the Planning Finance and Statistics function for effective planning in the State.
He introduced the COFOG and GFS framework for the Budgetary and Financial Reporting in the state and directed the preparation of a compendium of financial statements covering the 8 years’ tenure of the administration.
After Public Service he has been involved in activities relating to but not limited to
Project Manager on the Revenue collection assurance audit for the Federal Inland Revenue Service covering 89 branches of a major bank in Nigeria.
