An infrastructure development engineer and one-time Director at the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), Engr. Oluwatoyin Adewale Jokosenumi is top among a list of 23 prominent Nigerians to be conferred with honorary Doctorate award at an international conference holding in Abeokuta on Saturday August 17, 2024.
The forthcoming Leadership Empowerment International Conference tagged LEIC NIGERIA 2024 is the platform for the award ceremony which is pooling together an array of international leaders from over 50 countries of the world.
The award is being conferred by a South-Africa-based Immanuel Theology Institute International established by Prof Van Den Berg Edward Alfred in conjunction with Priesthood Leadership Development Initiative Inc(PLDI) based in Nigeria and founded by Prof. Olusesi Obateye.
Venue of the conference is the Treasure House of God Global Centre located at Agbeloba, Abeokuta.
Engr. Jokosenumi has a rich pedigree of over 35 years experience as a structural engineer, lecturer, project management, strategist and business development professional.
An Owu-born indigene of Abeokuta, he is a passionate Nigerian whose career has taken him to top level positions in public sector organizations such as the then Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Yaba College of Technology, Petroleum Training Fund(PTF) and Central Bank of Nigeria where he eventually retired.
Engr Joko, as fondly called by friends and family members, is the grandson of the 10th Balogun of Owu and Ekerin Egba, Late High Chief Sanusi Jokosenumi (1871-1960).
For his education, he attended the African Church Central School, Ita-Iyalode, Abeokuta, in 1966 and finished his secondary education at Macjob Grammar School in 1977.
He was admitted into the 1979 Civil Engineering class at the Ogun State Polytechnic from where he finished at the top of the class in 1981. By that sterling performance, he gained admission immediately, into the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University(ABU), Zaria and graduated with a Second-class Upper Division, in July 1984.
He secured the highly competitive Federal Government postgraduate scholarship in 1987, to study for the degree of M.Sc Building Engineering with specialization in Construction Technology, at the University of Lagos. He graduated with M.Ec Building Engineering in 1988.
Upon graduation from ABU in July 1984, Jokosenumi was deployed to serve the mandatory National Youth Service Corp scheme, in Bauchi State, in 1984 in the Works and Services Department of the Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa University. During the service year, he worked as the Structural Engineer, alongside others, and together designed and built the first Youth Park, named Unity Park in Bauchi.
He later returned to Abeokuta to start his career when he was engaged as Assistant Lecturer in Civil Engineering at the Ogun State Polytechnic in 1985, making him the first alumnus of the Polytechnic to return, with a university degree, and to be employed as a lecturer.
Later in 1990, he joined the teaching team at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Engineering School for the academic session of 1990 and 1991.
However, he was back in Abeokuta to assume duty at then newly established University of Agriculture, as Senior Engineer in 1991 in the Works and Services Department and worked as the Maintenance Team Lead assisting the University Chief Engineer in managing the infrastructures at the temporary site, students hostels and executive lodges in Abeokuta.
He also participated actively in the development of the University Permanent Site at Alabata between between 1991 and 1995.
At a point in January 1996, Jokosenumi joined and resumed as the pioneer Head of the newly created Physical Planning Unit at the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos.
Following the great work done at Ilaro Poly, Engr. Jokosenumi secured a place in the newly created and highly competitive Petroleum Special Trust Fund (PTF) as the Assistant Director for Special Projects, with effect from March 1, 1998.
Engr. Jokosenumi thereafter moved on to his place of final assignment in the public service when he joined CBN as Assistant Director and Head of Projects Implementation Unit in 1999.
In the CBN, Engr. Jokosenumi led the team that delivered the Central Bank new headquarter Complex in Abuja and also served as Team Lead for project implementation for several branch buildings across the length and breadth of Nigeria. The re-engineering program of the bank opened greater opportunities for Engr. Jokosenumi to be diversified from his primary functionality and expertise as Infrastructure Development Engineer to new roles in Strategy Management and Project and Program Management in other mandate areas of the Bank.
Engr. Jokosenumi also supported the bank as Chairman of Training and Development Committee in all Departments where he worked and was promoted to the grade of Deputy Director in 2006. was named the Pioneer Head of the Financial System Strategy otherwise called FSS 2020 – PMO, with effect from April 2012.
He was granted the full Directorship status with effect from January 2017 and he voluntarily disengaged at the end of 2017.
Following his successful service at the CBN, he was engaged and commissioned as Program Management Consultant for Nigeria Identity Management Commission(NIMC), with effect from January 1, 2018. On this role, he assisted the commission to restructure the Strategy Management office, build capacity for staff in Strategy and Project Management and supported the commission to prepare the Program Management Plan required to secure the World Bank sponsorship of the national Identity card project for Nigeria.
In 2022, Jokosenumi established his own private professional practice organisation, The Hawthorne – Grade Consulting Nigeria, where he practices and supports organizations with specialist services in Project and Program Management, Strategy Management, Project Risk Management and Leadership Development and Management and capacity development across his specialist areas. He is as well the Founder of Executive Project Management School.
