A Nigerian-born erudite academic and renowned Applied Statistician, Oluwagbohunmi Adetunji Awosoga has been announced as a full professor by the University of Lethbridge, located in Alberta, Canada.
The confirmation of Awosoga’s appointment as Professor of Applied Statistic and Psychometric was made public on Tuesday March 26, 2024.
A thorough-bred academic with over 35 years of post-secondary teaching experience, he is a past Board of Governors Teaching Chair at the University for two years.
In 2021, Awosoga was a Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, and Chrisland University, Abeokuta, Nigeria.
His research interest includes the well-being and Quality of life of professional Caregivers, Wellness amongst Rural and Urban Childcare Providers, Health and Safety in the Workplace, Psychometrics, ageing, dementia in the elderly, Meta-Analysis, and the application of Statistics in Health, Education, and Social Sciences.
His contribution to most research studies includes checking psychometric properties of new survey instruments, estimation of appropriate sample size, power and effect size required for the study, sensitivity analysis, Questionnaire design process, Construction of Databases needed for the study, addressing reliability of the survey instrument, suggest appropriate statistical methods for data analysis, and prepare the quantitative methodological aspect of the study final report and publications.
As a hobby, Dr. Awosoga enjoys spending time with family and friends, statistical consulting, and researching the Scriptures.
Speaking during a telephone interview with Boiling Point, Awosoga was full of praises to Almighty God saying it was a fitting cap to his several years of rigorous researches in his chosen field of endeavour.
