Ikere Ekiti-born Mechanical Engineer and University lecturer, Prof Olusegun David Orolu has joined the list of 25 distinguished Nigerians to be conferred with honorary Doctorate award at an international conference tagged LEIC NIGERIA 2024.
Prof Orolu who is a key figure among the leadership of the Celestial Church of Christ, bears the title Venerable Superior Evangelist and he is in fact the Dean of Academics and also Chairman, Examination Committee of CCC Theological Seminary.
He is coming all the way to Abeokuta which is hosting the three-day Leadership Empowerment International Conference(LEIC) and is pooling global leaders from 50 countries of the world.
Themed “Responsible And Responsive Leadership”, the conference which begins on Thursday 15th August to Saturday 17th August, 2024, holds at the Treasure House of God Global Centre, Agbeloba, Abeokuta.
The Leadership Empowerment International Conference(LEIC) is the collaborative platform by a South-Africa based institution, Immanuel Theology Institute International, founded by Prof Van Den Berg Edward Alfred in conjunction with Priesthood Leadership Development Initiative Inc(PLDI) based in Nigeria and founded by Prof Olusesi Obateye.
Prof Orolu is an international Minister of the Word and Revivalist as well as a Chartered Theologian.
He is to join others to receive the honorary Doctorate award of PhD(Honoris Causa) in Theology, with several others bagging a Doctorate in Leadership.
Among those listed for doctoral honour are three former Commissioners in the State, Engr. Anthony Ojeshina, Hon. Dele Obadina and Hon. Kehinde Sogunle.
Others include a retired former Director, Central Bank of Nigeria, Engr. Oluwatoyin Jokosenumi, TRACE Commandant, Prince ‘Seni Ogunyemi, elderstatesman and politician, Hon. Dapo Adeyemi, and Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASSUSS), Mr Felix Agbesanwa.
The rest are Head, Public Relations and Information, Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Rev’d Segun Orisajo, popular Adire Promoter and CEO, ATJ Textiles, Mrs Lizzy Adeboyejo and several others.
Time for the award event starts at 10am during which academic procession will commence followed by several other programmes already lined up.
According to a statement by Executive Secretary, LEIC, Dr Ayo Arowojolu, the Priesthood Leadership Development Initiative Inc is a global platform engaging in massive network to teach, train values in character in leadership and relationship, and thereby creating the path for a better world.
Dr Arowojolu explained the mission and vision of the Priesthood Leadership Development Initiative Inc which is partnering with the South Africa-based Immanuel Theology Institute International.
His words: “We made it clear from the outset that our organization stands for value. We stand for quality. We stand for purposes beyond profiting. We promote the cause of good leadership which is what Africa and Nigeria presently lack.”
“And as such, our awards are not for money. We have achieved credibility over the years. That’s why only credible people who merit being honoured in the society get awarded doctorate. And, it has nothing to do with money.”
