All roads lead to Okitipupa, Ondo State on Wednesday 16th October 2024 as friends, family and associates gather together to celebrate the Matriarch of the Arowojolu Family, Chief(Mrs) Florence Idowu Arowojolu as she hits the octogenarian milestone.
Madam Arowojolu, born 80 years ago, to the family of late Pa Daniel and Mrs Janet Akeremale of Idepe, is the current Iya Ijo of St Paul’s Anglican Church, Okitipupa.
A special thanksgiving service has been slated to hold on Wednesday 16th October at the Lẹbi Street, Okitipupa premises of the Church at 10am.
The programme is to be presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese on the Coast, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev’d OlaOluwa Oluseyi Pirisola.
Reception follows afterwards at the Fiesta Events Centre, Igbodigo/Erinje Bye-Pass, Aiyeka, Okitipupa.
A press statement by the celebrant’s eldest son, Dr Ayo Arowojolu, disclosed that the ceremony is being organized to appreciate God for His munificence and faithfulness over her life over the years as well as to honour the virtues of motherhood.
Dr Arowojolu said: “For us as a family, Mama Florence Idowu Arowojolu, is a Jewel of inestimable value worthy of being celebrated more even while alive. God has been so kind to her. She is really a true mother, not only to my siblings but to many whose lives she has touched positively.
“Her life is an eloquent testimony of perseverance, humility, meekness, patience, selflessness and unswerving faith and trust in God. The least we can do is to celebrate her.”
The celebrant, in her hey days, had an eventful teaching career, rising to the post of Head Teacher before her retirement in 1997.
Chief Mrs Arowojolu is the surviving wife of the late popular industrialist and Ilaje High Chief Vincent Olatuyi Arowojolu, the Asaron Ugbolerun of Mahin Kingdom in Ondo State who transited to glory in May 2000 at age 82.
Pa Arowojolu, it would be recalled, was until his demise, Head of the Alagwe Ruling House, a position he used to restore the Alagwe Dynasty back to reclaiming the hitherto lost kingship in Mahin.
