A tip of what to expect in the much-publicized Boiling Point Arena interview discourse slated for Sunday January 12, 2025 has started unfolding with a recommendation that African countries must latch in on a governance system that emphasizes regional intergration in order to emerge a global superpower.
This is the preliminary summation of eminent historian and internationally celebrated academic, Prof Toyin Falola who will mount the podium as Guest Speaker during the interview.
The discourse holds on Sunday via Zoom at 8pm for a two-hour duration and to be broadcast live by three radio stations, WASH 94.9FM, Lagos, Sweet 107.1FM, Abeokuta and Roots 97.1FM, Abeokuta.
The once-in-a-month current affairs programme which has reached the 27th installment, is convened by a media professional and public relations strategist, Dr Ayo Arowojolu.
Prof Falola is to dissect the topic: “The Socio-Economic and Political Survival of Mother Africa–The Dilemma and Viable Options”.
The distinguished Guest Speaker is proudly a recipient of 25 honorary doctorates from several globally acclaimed institutions and has authored more than 200 books and articles and has lectured in more than 65 countries.
Prof Falola spoke during a pre-interview session with the events Convener, Dr Arowojolu. His thoughts on Africa’s future are here captured below:
“The future of Africa stands between great promise and enormous threat. The continent, with its estimated population of more than 2.5 billion people by 2050, will become a demographic superpower with the world’s greatest number of young people.
“This demographic dividend, combined with Africa’s vast natural wealth and new technology, makes it a future economic and cultural world power.
“But making this a reality means confronting major issues, such as infrastructure shortfalls, governance and climate change. Africa’s social and economic realities are being quickly transformed by urbanisation, which brings innovation and development but also housing shortages and environmental stress.
“It is through investment in education, health care and digital transformation that Africa will gain skills for the global economy.
Toward sustainable development, regional integration and international cooperation Africa’s trajectory will be central.
“If Africa could channel its youthful vitality, innovation and open governance, it would re-establish itself on the world stage as a continent, not of problems but of opportunities and power for the world. It is an abstract of what lies at the root of Africa’s future, of expansion, resilience and revolution”.
Frontline traditional ruler, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof Saka Matemilola is the Keynote Speaker to herald the discourse on Sunday.
