AAU Secretary-General, Prof Olusola Oyewole, will speak at the webinar under the theme, African Universities as Development Agents- Role of Regional Cooperation.
The event forms part of the African Second Edition of the Centre for Global Higher Education (CGHE)- OBREAL Webinar Series: From Global to Inter-Regional Higher Education.

Prof. Olusola Oyewole, a one-time Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, will talk to the “three missions” of African universities and their role as agents of development.
He is also expected to expound on the role of an organization such as the AAU in promoting regional cooperation and integration, as well as in supporting universities with their developmental agendas.
Prof. Oyewole will trace the evolution of the relationship between the AAU, the African Union and the Pan African University, as well as offer an analysis of different national and international perspectives on HE policy for development.
The Association of African Universities is headquartered in Accra, Ghana, and is an apex organization that provides a platform for research, reflection, consultation, debates, co-operation and collaboration on issues pertaining to higher education.
AAU provides a range of services to its members and serves African higher education in a variety of ways. It has established and increased its role in the five sub-regions of Africa and can assemble teams of experts in relevant fields from the sub-regions.
In addition, the Association promotes interchange, contact and cooperation among universities and other institutions of higher education in Africa.
